What is Christmas?What is so special about Christmas? |

| The first
thing we need to know is that our God consists of three persons. This is
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches
that they are one. How you can be three persons but one God may not be
fully understandable in human terms, but it is what the Bible teaches. |

|
So what is so
special about Christmas? God, because of
his love for us sent his son to this earth. Our savior was
born. How did he do
this? Did he send him as a king?
No Jesus chose to come as a man to this earth.

| MT
1:18-25 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary
was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she
was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because
Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to
public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

|
Think about the shock that would have been to Joseph, to find out the woman he was going to marry was pregnant. |
||
| 20 But after he had
considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,
"Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your
wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,
n because he will save his people from their sins."

| It
would have still been hard to explain to friends and family. It’s not
always easy to serve God, not even for Joseph and Mary.

| 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" n --which means, "God with us." 24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. | ||
| Even before
Jesus was born he caused controversy. One thing you will notice, God chose
regular people even for this. He did not seek out someone wealthy or
someone that was in an influential position to raise Jesus, he chose
ordinary people.

| Lets see Luke’s description of Jesus birth: | ||
| LK 2:1-7 In those days Caesar
Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman
world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while
Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to his
own town to register. 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of
Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he
belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to
register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting
a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to
be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She
wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no
room for them in the inn.

| Think
about what we have read. Our savior born in a manger. Think of what a cow
barn would be like; it was definitely not the Hilton. So our savior was
born in a barn to ordinary people. He was to live on this earth as a man
facing all the same things we face and then later get crucified and die in
our place for our sins.

| Our
God did this willingly for us.
|
||
| Do you
think his birth deserves celebration? Do you think to put aside his
Godhood to come her and live as a man deserves celebration? Do you think
the fact that he was willing to die in our place deserves worship? Or the
fact that because of all this we now are able to go to heaven?

||
| Christmas
marks the beginning of our redemption; we celebrate the fact that Jesus
was born on that day.
|
||
|
As a Christmas present please give your life to Jesus. Don’t let everything he did for us be wasted. |
