What is a Christian?
We all have an image that we have formed in our mind. |

Is he someone that: Follows a lot of rules and
regulations? Goes to church every Sunday? Has to act a certain way? |

|
He might be, but that’s not what it is about.
We are followers of Jesus, because of what God promised. |
||
|
What did God Promise? |

|
Romans 10: 9-11 9That
if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in
your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For
it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with
your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As
the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to
shame." |

That is an awesome promise. |
||
|
So how does that make us
different then some other people? When you make this choice, God sends the
Holy Spirit to live inside you and help you. If he did all that for us, we
should love him for it. If we love him, we should want to please him. |
||

Just like with your wife/husband or
girlfriend/boyfriend, you want to make them happy if you love them. In the
same way we should want to please God.

Does this mean we are now
perfect?
No, we are just trying to live
for him. |
||
|
Romans 7:18b-19 For
I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For
what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to
do--this I keep on doing. |
||
|
Even so we can’t always do
what we are supposed to do, we should do the best we can. |
||
|
What is awesome about all this is that if we try to live for God, with the help of the Holy Spirit we will succeed in the end.
